Newcastle University Sports Centre

The Sports Centre can be found in the middle of campus. It is home to our Strength and Conditioning training. The University has recently invested £30m into brand new and refurbished facilities. The new building opened in March 2021 and includes a world class gym with over 180 stations, a high performance strength and conditioning suite and our new ergo facility at Cochrane Park, home to over 40 Concept 2 Machines.

NUBC Boathouse

Located just a 20 minute drive from the university campus, Newcastle University Boat Club’s High Performance Programme is recognised and supported by the GB Rowing Team and hence funded through the National Lottery. The Boathouse which is situated in Newburn, provides students with 5k beautiful water upriver, a 1500m straight to test on and the ability to row 15k all the way into the city through the toon’s iconic bridges.

Fleet

NUBC have a great relationship with Hudson and this means the club have an extensive range of Hudsons for all members of the club to use on a daily basis. Currently the club owns 3 USP mens VIII’s and 2 USP Women’s VIII’s alongside an additional 2 SP VIII’s each. Furthermore, the club currently has a large array of USP’s/SP’s in the form of coxless fours/quads as well as many pairs/doubles that our squads use to trial in. The club also boasts multiple sets of Concept II Skinny’s and Croker Arrows giving the althetes a wide range of selection for training.
