Support NUBC’s Future

Blue Star Foundation

Since 2014, the Blue Star Club has been encouraging alumni to donate to support the work of NUBC and the continued success of rowing at Newcastle University. The Blue Star Foundation (charity number 1180737) was therefore created in 2018, to formalise this fundraising by creating a separate charity to receive and look after these donations.

Our donors have grown from a founding four individuals to well over 100 alumni donating monthly. As a result, the Foundation has received a growing number of donations every year and have had a huge impact in the fleet at Newcastle. Blue Star has aided in the purchase of many new shells including multiple USP VIII’s, multiple small boats as well as other equipment such as blades aimed to benefit both the women’s and mens squads.

Join Us & Donate

The Trustees encourage regular monthly donations from contributors via bank standing orders or direct debits, to ensure the Foundation can provide support to NUBC over the long-term. You can also make one-off donations by following the link here.

Any amount is welcome, but donors who give at least £5 per month will be eligible to receive the prestigious Blue Star pin badge.

Manage Your Donation

Update Your Donations

For members donating via direct debit, please use this form to change the amount that is taken from your bank account.

Update Your Gift Aid

As a registered charity, donors to the Foundation can enable it to reclaim gift aid on their donations, so long as they are a UK tax payer. This will enable the Foundation to claim an extra 25% on donations received.

Governance

The Foundation is a full charity, registered with the Charity Commission (number 1180737) independent of NUBC and Newcastle University.

The Foundation is managed by 8 Trustees, who are elected at the AGM each year by all alumni who donate regularly. The Foundation is run in accordance with its Constitution and grant-making policy. For further information about the Blue Star Foundation, please either contact Charles Barry on behalf of the Trustees or subscribe to the alumni mailing list.
