BUCS Regatta

After a long hiatus, we were thrilled to finally be back at Nottingham’s Water Sport Centre for BUCS 2021. We had a wide variety of boats entered over all three days, allowing essentially every club member a race a day.

Huge congratulations to both our athletes and all universities racing the past few days. It’s great to be back in multi lane racing, and hearing the blue star roar dominating at the finish of all, and any, timetrial, semi, or final, keeping our reputation as the most supportive club.

Thursday

On the Thursday the men had two Lightweight pairs, two Inter pairs, a champ pair, Lightweight quad, Inter quad and a Champ quad entered, whilst the girls had two coxed inter fours, a champ coxed four (PAIN!), lightweight quad, champ coxless four, and seven inter doubles.

We finished the day off strong with medals in the Men’s champ quad (1st), men’s champ coxed four (2nd), and women’s inter double (3rd) with the other results being:

Friday

Entered for the men were an Inter single, Lightweight coxless four, two inter eights and a champ eight, and for the women we had a beginner2 single, 5 inter pairs, 2 lightweight doubles, three inter quads and a champ quad.

NUBC medalled in the Men’s champ lightweight coxless 4 (1st) Women’s Inter pair (3rd, by less than 0.1 seconds), Men’s champ eight (3rd) and the Women’s Inter quad (3rd). The following results for the rest of the day being:

Saturday

To round the event up, the men had three inter doubles, a lightweight double, a champ coxless four, two coxed fours and a champ coxed four. The women had a beginner2 quad, two inter singles, 3 inter eights and a champ eight.
On the final day we medalled in the Women’s beginner2 quad (2nd), Women’s champ lightweight coxless four (2nd), men’s champ coxless four (2nd) and the women’s champ eight (3rd). The final few results being:
