GB Rowing Trials

Newcastle University Boat Club has a history of producing high quality athletes that progress through the annual GB trials and make U23 and Senior boats and this year is no different. This weekend sees the last set of trials for an impressive 18 Newcastle Students and Alumni. 

In Lightweight Women, alumna Gemma Hall will look to make the senior team once again after finishing first at the last set of trials earlier this year. Current student Fiona Chestnutt will be pushing for her first GB vest. 

In Lightweight Men, Dom Jackson will be be going for his second GB U23 vest after rowing in the lightweight pair last year. Oliver Varley is once again looking to make the GB team having previously won the U23 World Championships in the Lightweight Quad. James Stevenson has put in some impressive performances in previous trials and will be going for his first GB vest. 

In Openweight Women's sweep alumni Em Ford, Natasha Harris-White and Nicole Lamb will be trialling alongside current student and previous Henley Royal Winner Frances Russell. 

In Openweight Men's sculling Alex Haynes and previous GB junior sculler Oliver Costley will be trialling. 

In Openweight Men's Sweep Alumni George Rossiter will be trialling alongside previous GB Senior rowers Tom Ford, Tim Clarke and James Rudkin. Current students James Robson and Will Stewart, the latter of which raced in the GB U23 pair last year, will also be trialling. 

Alex Turner will be trialling as a Mens's cox.
